Welcome!

5/15/13 Trail update: The grass/sod trails are all open. Coyote Run is open except for the section past the clay dip. Newly opened is the Back Gate Trail to the Back Forty loop with one creek crossing in nice repair. (Unless we get more hard rain).

Novice riders or riders on green horses should be aware that some erosion, exposed roots, and/or downed trees limbs may make the newly opened trails unsafe for you.

You can call the park office number to check on trail conditions. Conditions are updated as weather & repair work change. 815-434-0518

Thank you for visiting the Catlin Park "Unofficial Website" - it is unofficial because it is privately owned, not a LaSalle County service.  The purpose of this site is to provide information for anyone visiting this beautiful little country park.

The park has a new site manager, Steve Rotchford, who is planning to do as much as he can to keep what the park has to offer in the top condition.  He has already, in his first year on the job, dealt with mother nature's vengance and her glory!  The Wet Foot trail system is again open and returning to it's original more primitive condition.  In 2013, Ranger Steve has hopes to bring more "events" to the park.  Still working within the county budget and regulations, this can be done with everyone's cooperation.

Another 2012 change was the County Board's decision to remove the trail tag charge on horses & bicycles using the park. Thank you!

Catlin Park is known for it's beautiful trail system.  These multi-use trails are shared by hikers/walkers, runner, cyclists or equestrians.  There are several picnic areas and a new ball diamond.  The white tail deer are abundant and a beautiful sight when riding or hiking. On some occasions you may even see wild turkeys.  Nearly all the trails are wide enough to drive down. They are very meticulous maintained for your safety and convenience by the site staff. New trees have been planted in the horse trailer parking lot to celebrate Earth Day, but not to worry about parking your rig there, plenty of room!

Groups of 25 or more need permission to use the park for their events.  Please contact the park office at 815-434-0518.  Also available online at LaSalle County Parks Department is a form to submit either online or by snail mail.  This form also has Shabbona Park listed.  Please read instructions carefully first.  Link to the form is here:  LaSalle County Parks Reservations Form
